20. Greek and Cyrillic alphabets

The word alphabet is formed from the first two letters (alphaand beta) of the Greek alphabet. Greek letters are used in mathematicalnotations and to some extent elsewhere.

The basic Cyrillicalphabet is similar to the Greek. Itis used in Russian; some other variant letters occur in otherslavic (Bulgarian, Macedonian, Serbian, Ukranian) and non-slavic(Azerbaijani, Chechen, Kazakh, Kirgiz, Ossetian, Tadzhik, Tatar,Turkmen, Uzbek, etc.) languages using this alphabet.
